History
The Montana Regiment, also known as the 163rd regiment. They purchased almost $175,000 in Liberty Bonds. Company L purchased about $15,000, a record that everyone was proud of. A liberty bond was a war bond that was sold in the United States to help support the allied cause in World War I. Liberty bonds gave the government money that would be paid back to individuals at a later time. Buying liberty bonds was one way for citizens to show their patriotism and support for the war effort. Liberty bonds also taught Americans to save money, which controlled inflation during the war.
